Approval

Approval is defined as the action of approving something. In other words, this could stand for agreeing with something. Yet this is one of the most frightening realities for humanity in this age. Not only are people belated by approval, but mostly by the eager desire of pleasing everyone. The reality is that no matter what we do, we will never be able to please the entire world. The reason people invest themselves in the pursuit of approval is not because they need others to be able to turn their ideas into actions, but instead because they just want to make sure that they will be accepted by others and not be alone.

Before we take any action, our brain approves of it and allows it to take place. This is the same with anything we are willing to accomplish. As long as we will not accept our ideas personally, they will never turn into action. Most of the time that is where the confusion comes in, because at times we are so dependent of others’ approval that we forget who needs to act in the end. There is a difference between looking for insights and looking for approval from others. Looking for insights result in us having an idea of how different people see a matter in order to be able to address/approach it in a more efficient way. However, looking for approval result in us being stuck until we have everyone on our side. The truth is that there’s never enough approval to lunch an idea greater than personal approval.

The fear that devours most people is not failing, but rather, not being good enough for others. Not only do we want others to be all about what we are about, but we want them to support us exactly how we picture it. It does not have to be like that. Working with a team is usually a great way to accomplish something, as there is a whole variety of talents put together at work. However, this only works if all members of the team are driven by the same goal. One thing that needs to be understood, is that until we value our own selves, no one ever will. There is a saying that goes: “Respect yourself and others will respect you!”. There is a difference between confidence and pride. People often react negatively when someone tries something “difficult”, and often rush into calling that pride and if the individual concerned has a shaky personality, which is usually the case. This often results in uncompleted ideas, business plan, diets, fitness challenges and so much more taken into the grave. This is why the cemetery is called the richest place, for no other reason than that of all the unborn ideas and dreams.

We live in an era where we are so afraid by what will happen if we try something and mess it up. What if the greatest fear is actually what will happen if we do not go ahead and try. In other word, when we try something, it either works or it does not. However, when we do not try, we will never know what could have been; If the outcome is positive, we learn how to go about something, and if it is negative, we make the lesson count by learning how not to do something. The most successful inventions were not birthed from a place of confidence, but rather a place of doubt. The only way to silence any type of doubt or uncertainty is to give it a try and observe the results. At least then if the result is contrary to what we expected them to be; we will be able to analyze the result concretely and come up with more efficient ways to approach the matter. As humans, we are not perfect and should be graceful towards ourselves. There is nothing wrong with trying and failing. There is no guarantee of the outcome of an experiment, but there is no other way to be sure of the outcome than trying. There is nothing wrong with trying to be surrounded by a team. It is very important to be surrounded by like-minded people in order to remain motivated even through the days where it feels like succeeding is not even an option. To be able to create a team we should be able to understand the difference between the fear of being alone and the importance of working with a team. As a team works, no one should find themselves hidden in the shade created by the group, but rather everyone should contribute with their abilities in order to bring the big picture to life.

Long story short, there is nothing wrong with considering the well-being of everyone prior to taking action. On the other hand, there is everything wrong in making any other person responsible for our choices. In this life everything is temporary. We should never allow ourselves the luxury of postponing something unnecessarily as if tomorrow was guaranteed. It is not easy to work with others, but it is wiser to associate with others, as the head needs the feet to move around, so do we to go forward in this life. Having a team is not meant to work less, but to realize that we are working for something greater than ourselves, leaving us no choice, but doing our outmost best to accomplish greatness. Remember this: It is not always about having the right people around you, instead it’s more about being the best version of ourselves around others.
