Consistency

Hello friends, welcome back to YOUBLNG, ‘cause you belong!
In today’s article, we will talk about consistency from a Biblical perspective. Brace yourself and happy reading.
How many of us struggle with implementing and maintaining consistent goals, habits, and plans in our everyday life? …School, sport, healthy lifestyles, family and friendships, work, career,… we could go on…
The key to consistency is to show up, and today we will look at our Bible and see how we can develop this good habit called consistency.
Colossians 1:9-10 AMP
“For this reason, since the day we heard about it, we have not stopped praying for you, asking [specifically] that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [with insight into His purposes], and in understanding [of spiritual things], so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord [displaying admirable character, moral courage, and personal integrity], to [fully] please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing in the knowledge of God [with deeper faith, clearer insight and fervent love for His precepts];”
See something profound here, “we have not stopped praying for you”, we see the power of consistency, I have to be honest, I’m not yet good at this useful and powerful skill of consistency, but every video or podcast I’ve listened to on this, proves that it is so useful. Now imagine being consistent with the Creator of the universe, imagine how life would be different, don’t get me wrong, challenges and trials will still be there but this time around you’re not going through it alone but rather with God.
Can you try to think of something that you’re trying to achieve or give up on but you’re constantly failing? Perhaps, consistency is not yet involved, consistency involves discipline, a sense of doing something even when you don’t feel like doing it.
I remember days when I’d dance to the rhythm of discipline, and days where I’d just struggle to keep up with my plans and routines, there’s grace. The thing is every time you find yourself in a place that you don’t want, don’t get comfortable there, find a way to get back to a healthy way of living, most of us, if not many of us, fall into this trap of feeling unworthy after failure, but truth is failure does not define you but it has the ability to shape you positively if you allow it.
What is that thing you’ve been praying for? But feels like God isn’t answering! Keep praying my friends and change your perspective ‘cause some of us are currently living in answered prayers but they just look different from the image we’ve perceived (His ways are higher than ours, His thoughts are higher than ours - Isaiah 55:8-9).
“We have not stopped” there’s power in consistency, and consistency with God is rewarding. Today you may feel weak and have no idea where to begin, where to start again, don’t let that worry you. Brick by brick, step by step, one step at a time. Start somewhere and commit to be consistent there, build from there, the good thing is we don’t have to do it on our own, we’ve got the greatest help you could ever ask for, The Holy Spirit. Invite Him in your life and walk with Him, He’s already available for you, you just have to be still and partner with Him.
Consistency in the right thing produces good character and traits. Don’t let the worry of this world overwhelm you, be consistent in what you love, and watch God fight for you. In addition, you’re not of this world, you’re a tourist, traveling through, so let your focus be on the heavenly things while making an impact on earth for His glory.
One more point, I wanted to add is about faith, I have been praying for more faith more like God increase by faith, but Jesus said “if you have faith small like a mustard seed“ (Matthew 17:20) and in our Scripture, the Amplified Bible puts it as follow: “steadily growing in the knowledge of God [with deeper faith, clearer insight and fervent love for His precepts]” (Colossians 1:10 AMP), this got me thinking, perhaps, we need to stop asking for more faith and put to action the faith we already have, growing deeper in the Knowledge of God, and asking Him to help us believe and trust Him. Our focus should be on growing, the more we walk with God and experience Him in all kind of situations our faith grows not bigger but deeper in Him, think of a tree with deeper roots and another one with shallow roots, if there’s a storm which one is more likely to be uprooted? The one with shallow or not so deep roots, the same can be applied to us, the more we walk with Him, the deeper our faith, and when storms come, you are rooted in the shelter, it may hurt but you will make it through with deeper faith.
I hope today’s read is a blessing to you all. Remember no matter what you’re journeying through right now, you’re not alone, we all have questions and answers we desire, take them to the Father, He’d love to hear from you and speak with you (fellowship) and be part of a Christ-centered community, don’t walk alone.
Love & Peace Fam✌🏾
