Ephesians 6:16 AMP
“Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”
Hebrews 11:1 AMP
“Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].”
Hebrews 11:6 AMP
“But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.”
Hello YOUBLNG friends, welcome to the blog, it has been a minute since we’ve shared something, I’m just grateful that I get to do this again, the LORD indeed is faithful.
Faith is a crucial part of our lives as Christians, faith allows the Christian to believe in what they may not see now.
In our read, we are told to take up the “shield of faith to extinguish ALL the flaming arrows of the evil one” this is so important because most of us may be struggling with negative thoughts pattern that just don’t seem to go away.
How many of us are struggling with voices that are speaking contrary to the Word of God in our lives and somehow, we’ve made these voices a home within our minds - and every day is a battle for peace in our minds. But what if we could fight this with a weapon called faith?
For I believe that the works of Jesus Christ on the cross has made everything possible for me, however, I have to tap into it, I have to make a decision to take the resource made available to me and apply these to my life and live a victorious life.
Most people are content to just be saved and still struggle with certain things in their lives, dear friends, you’ve been called to live a life far more than just being comfortable in your salvation, a life that is marked by the LORD’s presence, a life marked by the character of Jesus. But we may not be able to walk in such a life if we’re still struggling with our thoughts pattern.
Proverbs 23:7 KJV
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.”
Our thoughts influence the quality of our lives - sometimes the way we live may reveal a direct reflection of what’s inside our hearts and many people are bond to a negative thought pattern. Perhaps, you can’t stop fear from drilling into your soul, or you’re still thinking that you’re not enough and you will never be. Or perhaps, you can’t stop thinking that you’re not a good person, things will get worse, nothing ever works for me, it’s always bad with me… you’re constantly entertaining and nurturing these bad thoughts in your mind and you create a home for them and they begin to rule your life — can you relate?
Perhaps, I didn’t list the type of negative thought pattern you’re experiencing here, the truth is that if it’s contrary to the Word of God - you need to get rid of it.
Faith helps us to fight these - the LORD has so many promises in His Word for us and we have to tap into His promises with faith because He says He will do it so He will (“so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 KJV).
So today if you’re battling with a negative thought pattern take it to God, it is not your battle but His, in the earlier verses of Ephesians 6 it says: “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 NLT, do not try to fight this with your own strength but rely on the truth laid down for you in His Word.
Use your faith to fight the flaming arrows of the evil one against your mind, lean into God’s Word, what does He say about you? (Ephesians chapters 1&2—a great insight on what God says about you, make time to read these two chapters), believe in what He says about you, make it your daily confession until it becomes true in your spirit, let God help you deal with your mind, let your mind be His field — invite Him to clean up the mess you have created in that space, leave it to Him — play your part — activate your faith and this is a daily thing, you just don’t do it on Monday and thinking that it is sufficient for the week, be consistent in your devotion to God.
Here are some reminders from the Word of God to help us fight the flaming arrows of the enemy against our minds, remember faith is our shield against the enemy’s assault on our minds.
Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
”For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Psalms 139:13-14 NLT
”You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.”
Romans 8:1 NLT
”So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:28 NLT
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
”This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
Philippians 1:6 NLT
”And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
Moreover, create a habit of spending time with the LORD and in His Word regardless of how you may be feeling. Be transformed in His presence.
I pray that this blog article may help you in the fight of your mind, remember the victory has already been won — tap into it with faith and boldness in Christ Jesus.
I wish you all a wonderful week ahead. May God Bless You Abundantly!
