New Beginnings, Returning to the Father’s Heart

Revelation 2:5 AMP

“So remember the heights from which you have fallen, and repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, your sinful behavior—seek God’s will] and do the works you did at first [when you first knew Me]; otherwise, I will visit you and remove your lampstand (the church, its impact) from its place—unless you repent.”

Hello friends,

We serve a compassionate Father, there’s something my mom always says that as humans we have this tendency to focus on people’s wrongdoings and forget their goods, out of a hundred deeds, we would omit the ninety nine positive deeds and focus on the one that is not good.

Our God does not work in this way, He is perfect in His love. When reading Revelation chapter 2 from verse 1 all the way to verse 7, we read a letter written to the church of Ephesus, in here it starts with Jesus knowing His church, knowing His people and knowing their deeds.
He begins by praising and encouraging them on the good that they have done, He is letting them know that their good works aren’t in vain, He sees it all

“I know your deeds and your toil, and your patient endurance, and that you cannot tolerate those who are evil, and have tested and critically appraised those who call themselves apostles (special messengers, personally chosen representatives, of Christ), and [in fact] are not, and have found them to be liars and impostors; and [I know that] you [who believe] are enduring patiently and are bearing up for My name’s sake, and that you have not grown weary [of being faithful to the truth].”

Revelation 2:2-3 AMP

and not just telling them the wrongs but highlighting their progress and what stands out from them, because we serve a God who leads us to perfection, He works in and through us for His glory alone.

“I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].”

Philippians 1:6 AMP

But along Jesus brings something that He is not pleased with,

“But I have this [charge] against you, that you have left your first love [you have lost the depth of love that you first had for Me].”

Revelation 2:4 AMP

Jesus begins by reminding them that He is aware of their deeds and that no matter what happened they have not grown weary, and He desires the best for this church so He brings out the part that’s not in alignment with Him, “the first love”. Perhaps, this is where some of us are, where, we still serve God, we are radical but somehow we feel stuck where everything we do feels casual.

Here we are warned in verse 5 our main verse.

Jesus sees your works, sacrifices and desires and He is working in and through you to bring you to that place which He has prepared for you, but the journey will not be as easy as a walk in a park.

Personally, I have faced this one thing whereby the enemy tries to get the best out of me, I will do a lot of good things but he will distract me and reminds me of what did not work, he will remind me of my past sins, and somehow I will fall for that.

Jesus is calling us to come back to that first love, where He is our very thing, I believe we can truly serve Him from that place called love. Don’t give up, keep pushing, whenever you feel far from God, re-adjust, refresh and connect again. Whenever you run empty, always go back to the Father to be filled again and get back to your first love don’t let the enemy’s lies engulf you and stop you from experiencing heaven in your life. Don’t let the enemy rob you from that which God has in store for you.

Quick repentance brings peace and allows our hearts to be refreshed and not hardened, don’t let the enemy keep you from repenting. Return to the Father’s heart where it all begins, return to your first love, be refreshed into new beginnings.

Jesus is warning us and let’s obey His voice

“He who has an ear, let him hear and heed what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God], I will grant [the privilege] to eat [the fruit] from the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.’”

Revelation 2:7 AMP

 Be blessed friends.
