How Do You See Yourself?

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:1-2, 13‬ ‭AMP‬‬
“O Lord, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up [my entire life, everything I do]; You understand my thought from afar. For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb.”

Hello friends,

How beautiful it is to have this truth within us that we are known by the same God who created the universe, the same God who parted the Red Sea knows us. Sometimes it is challenging to believe this truth, we may be at a point in our lives where we fail to see ourselves the way God sees us. This could be because of different reasons in our lives, I have been at that point, a place where I’d look down on myself, doubt myself, doubt that I could grow and be a better version of myself but God wants us to change our perception and see ourselves the way He sees us, He wants us to know that He loves and knows us.

It’s so easy to give into the negativity, for me it felt so easy to just believe that there were certain things that I could not be or could not achieve, that I wasn’t good enough and friends that made it easier for me to go on with my doubts and little did I know this kept on growing bigger. By living this way I created a barrier between my potential and I. I allowed limitations to invade my space and thus, grew into more frustrations.

We need to allow ourselves to be seen through the lens of the Holy Spirit. So many of us are battling with the way we see ourselves, we look down on ourselves, we doubt our potential, we downgrade who we truly are. By doing all of these, we open a door for the enemy’s lies to engulf us. We try to do life on our own without the Help that was promised to us. We continually see ourselves through our failures, past mistakes and through the blinds on our eyes.

For God redeemed us through His Son and the work of the cross, Jesus died for our past mistakes and conquered the grave so we can be victorious in our fights, our mistakes don’t define who we are, Jesus does, our response to His calling, love and forgiveness puts us on the journey to restoration.

We don’t automatically heal from our wounds and hurts, however, as we allow our Saviour to restore our hearts healing breaths into our wounds and hurts, so stop seeing yourself through your wounds but exercise to see who you are through the One who heals us.

We don’t automatically change the way we see ourselves but we enter into a habit, a habit where we exercise seeing the goodness of God in our lives, a place where we accept who we are through Him, a place where we say yes to His voice and believe what He says about us, as we do this our perception of who we are begins to be transformed.

Depending on the Holy Spirit: we need to acknowledge that we can’t succeed in this without the Help that was promised to us. Our minds will try to get us on the side of the impossible but our spirits connected to the right source will lead us to victory. Friends, the Holy Spirit is our guide and helper, therefore, let’s not try to do this on our own but let us invite Him to help us discover the precious jewellery within us, let us ask Him to help us unveil the lies from our eyes to see who we truly are in Him.

Looking down on yourself could be an indication that you’re depending on yourself rather than your Creator. Knowing your identity in Christ will help you remember that He loves you and that He will always be by your side as long as you allow Him, we don’t have to be without a fault to approach Him, we have to remember that He is continually working in us (Philippians 1:6). Our negative thoughts could be watering the enemy’s lies.

Let’s get practical, if you’re battling with the way you see yourself, confess these positive words over yourself, you don’t have to believe them at once, it’s like growing a tree, it may take months to even years but you never stop watering the seed that will turn into a plant one day.

Words:

I am a child of God
I am loved and forgiven
I am beautiful
I am handsome
I am set apart
I am a chosen generation
I am destined for greatness
I am unique
I am His
I am strong
I am smart
I am all He says I am.

Start confessing these words, write them down, put them on a poster, place them on your mirror, intentionally speak them out, you don’t have to feel like you believe them, but just speak out and bring out your faith in action, exercise the muscle of Vision Through The Holy Spirit. In the same way we have to be intentional and persistent.

Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art],
created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed,
ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set],
so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”

Dear friends, we can achieve victory over the stuff that are hurting us from within through the help of the Holy Spirit and trusting and believing in the Works of Jesus Christ and know and hold onto the truth that WE ARE LOVED by God who isn’t just God, but a FATHER who LOVES US SO MUCH.

I wish you a wonderful week ahead and remember it’s all a process, don’t beat yourself up.

God bless you friends.
