Stay Firm - Remain Plugged to the Source

It was when my focus was on Him, when I could feel His presence and I knew without doubt that my creativity was flowing from His presence, but somehow, I opened a door to comparison, jealousy, impure thoughts, and I lost my way. I tried to do what I use to, but I couldn’t feel the same presence and joy I had when my focus was on Him. Somewhere, somehow, I may have lost my touch from Him, I may have wandered away and now it feels different.

Hello friends,

Today I reflect on what it means to remain plugged to the source, I shared this message with our youth discipleship ministry back in December 2020, and little did I know that today I would need this message for myself, and perhaps you too need to hear this.

Sometimes in our lives we find ourselves doing just great in our faith walk, we’re filled with the presence of God, we testify and we don’t want to lose that, but somehow, we slip off and lose the precious gift of His presence, and believe me the feeling afterwards is such an undesirable experience and we try to get back on track but somehow it feels as if it’s not working, and somehow we feel so lost that we think we may not get back up and we end up believing the lie and slowly we keep moving away from Him. The truth is God is constant but we are not. If that is you then let’s read together because you are not alone.

Psalms‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example], Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers). But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity].”

Let us start from the source, who are you surrounded with? What is your circle like? Do you feel uplifted or left depleted? Company is very important, we take it lightly but it is important for us to be aware of what we allow ourselves to be exposed to. In the Psalms we have a promise that if we don’t walk in the counsel of the wicked we will blessed.

Where is your delight today? Where is your focus? Is it deep in your problems or around what’s happening in your life? Sometimes, we miss the boat just because our focus is not set on the right thing. It’s so easy to lose the grip we have from the source of life and slowly settle for what feels right in the moment. When we delight ourselves in the Word of God, that is spending time reading His Word and having communion with Him, meditating on His teachings, we are being renewed, refuelled, we are receiving more of Him and our focus is continually set on Him. However, when we delight in other things that are not Kingdom minded, our focus is shaken, our faith is shaken, and we lose our gaze from His face, and we end up empty. Not a good feeling right?

What is your constant source in your life? Where do you go to whenever you feel down, where do you run to when you need help? Do you go back to what hurts you? Or do you lift up your eyes and fix your gaze upon the One who saved you knowing that your help comes from Him? (Ps 121:1-2)

You may say, but oh well, I am stuck and have left that place of being connected to the presence of God, well my friend, you’re not alone. You may have wandered away, and that does not mean that it’s the end of the road, no, it’s not a dead end, it’s not the end of the story. God is still holding the pen.
Have you lost that connection to the place of total surrender? The place of full blessings, the place of full dependency? You can always start again. Sometimes we feel stuck and we think that we are too far lost, but God wants us to be reminded that we can start again, and we can put our trust solely in Him that He who began a good work in us will fulfil it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Phi 1:6)

2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:16-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  • “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

Maybe your circumstances may have caused you to lose your focus from God, is it a bad grade at school, your struggles that don’t seem to leave space for you to breath, or your health status, or could it be fear?, whatever it is, it has caused you to have wandered astray and now it feels difficult to trust again. The issue is that once we find ourselves in a foreign place, and when we feel as if we’re failing to get back up we settle for what we see and lose it all. But His love is deep for us all and apostle Paul calls us to see that our present troubles are small compared to what awaits us. And we are invited to set our gaze on the unseen (that is having faith) because the unseen is eternal.

Romans‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

‭‭We may have lost our way, slipped off, lost the firm grip we once had, but God still loves us, our current state does not define who we are, but Christ does, and He is calling us to invite Him in our lives to meet us right where we are, we don’t have to pretend, but to be ourselves and to be transparent with Him. God desires the best for us and let us all believe it. You’re not too far gone, His hands are wide opened waiting to welcome you back home, where your heart belongs, right in His presence.

Today as we read on the Psalms we’re encouraged not to walk in the counsel (or in the company) of those who do not follow God’s Word. When you reflect on your surroundings, is your Christian walk influencing those around you positively, or the people around you influence you negatively?

Let us remain plugged to the source, closer to God, that in whatever season we go through we won’t go dry, because we are planted by the streams of water, we are rooted in Christ, His truth surrounds our hearts and our salvation is in Him Alone. We are called to live a life of purpose, serving God’s purpose for our lives. When you’re not filled with God’s Word, you pour out of what you have, we can only pour out of God if we are refilled of what He has. We can’t do this in our own strength, we need God, His grace and Spirit is sufficient to help us in this walk.

Finally, Matthew‬ ‭7:7-8‬ ‭AMP ‬‬Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened.”

‭‭Let us ask God through His grace and power to remain steadfast and firm in our faith, He says if we ask it will be given to us, so let us keep on asking, seeking, and knocking.

My prayer is that you will not stop fighting, don’t let the enemy’s lie engulf you and make you feel worthless, you are precious in the Creator’s eyes and He desires the best for your life, and this can be achieved while in His presence, you are called for more and Jesus has done it all, and you have to claim that blessing for your life, your family, and your friends. Do not give up, should you feel weak, alone, or lose your gaze on Him, pray unto Him in faith and receive what is already yours, don’t let what you feel now rob you from what He is doing in your life.

God Bless You Abundantly Friends!
