Where Is Your Heart?

Hello friends, welcome back to YOUBLNG, ‘cause you belong!

As young ones, we may face a season in our lives where we don’t know where our hearts are set on. We try to find things that will fill us in all the wrong places, and the more we do this, we crave for something bigger, for completeness, for wholeness, a sense of belonging, a feeling that will reassure us that we matter. In our lost moments of life all we want is the knowledge that we are cared for and loved no matter what we have done. And today, we can get this assurance in JESUS who loves us just as we are, He welcomes us as we are, He does not condemn us. He forgives us and gives us a new life.

With all the wonders that Jesus offers, He doesn’t force those on us, He is a gentleman, knocking on the door of our hearts and waiting for an invitation to come in, now the question is: in your search for wholeness, completeness, forgiveness, and new life, where is your heart set on? Is it in your high school achievements, college or university fame, or on the same things that are hurting you? Where is your heart?

In today’s blog article, we will navigate through Scriptures and see where Jesus wants our hearts to be set on, to live a life full of purpose, to serve Him wholeheartedly, and to be after His heart.

Matthew‬ ‭6:21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

‭‭Our hearts are attracted to where our treasure is, a “treasure” something of value. A valuable object. What is it that you consider valuable in your life? …something of great value. The one thing that is of treasure to you will attract your heart towards it. To that which we treasure is where our wishes, our desires will also be. (our hearts)

Today, as you reflect on your life where is your treasure? Or who is your treasure?
Is it Jesus? Or is it your boyfriend, girlfriend? Your past relationship that hurt you?
Identify who is your treasure in your life, because there, is where your heart will be, how you live and journey through this life will be a reflection of where your heart is placed.

Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭NLT‬‬
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

‭‭We live in a world that offers us so much, so much more that our focus can easily be distracted, moving us from a place of God’s presence to settle for temporary pleasures. We all can relate to this, having been there, and perhaps being prone to easily slip into it again. There are moments in my life, where I can be so consumed by all that life has to offer and lose my gaze from seeking His Kingdom, so no one is exempted from slipping off and losing focus. But I have to constantly remind myself to seek His Kingdom and His righteousness knowing that my needs will be met and fulfilled by God. Note something important not my “wants” but rather my “needs”.

Are we busy chasing after what we want rather than seeking after His Kingdom and His righteousness and believing that our needs will be met by God?

We can not fulfil our own wants or desires on our own but the One who created us, He who knows exactly what we need, and when we need them, He will surely supply beyond our expectations, but there’s a catch… our hearts must be set on Him, seeking His Kingdom and His righteousness every day of our lives.

Psalms‬ ‭23:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”

‭Is your heart set on the things you can’t afford or wish to have but can’t or don’t have? In the Psalms we’re reminded that the Lord is our shepherd. A shepherd is someone who takes care of his flocks.

Notice something beautiful, the verse didn’t start with “I lack nothing because the Lord is my shepherd” but rather a confession of belonging “The Lord is my shepherd” I have to come to that place of full surrender to God, where I lay my life in His hands, with firm assurance knowing that He will take care of my life, because He is the good Shepherd. Then, I can boldly declare that because the Lord is my shepherd, because He is the good Shepherd in my life, that is I belong to Him, I trust Him with the direction of my life, He will keep me safe in His arms, I lack nothing, I don’t have to worry about a thing, because I am already in His love and care.

So my heart will not be set on what I don’t have, or can’t afford, but on the Good Shepherd who is my God.

Are you consumed by the earthly things, or are you pursuing the Kingdom of God?

We live in a time, where we are so consumed by temporary things, glued to social media, the amount of likes we can get, the views our videos or stories can get. The popularity on campus or school ground, we want to be known for our achievement. On the contrary for us our goal should be to live a life worthy of our calling, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, because He has paid a big price for our salvation and let us not waste it.

Are you consumed by fame or popularity in your school?
Are you wasting your potential towards temporary things?

And to us who have wandered away, losing our gaze from God, we have let our hearts lead us into a different place than God, it is not over yet.

We can still come back to God and ask Him to help us make Him the treasure of our lives in faith. Psalms‬ ‭27:4‬ ‭AMP ‬‬“One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord And to meditate in His temple.”

‭‭And maybe for you, you have not yet experienced who this Good Shepherd is, and would like to know Him, He is wonderful, He is a father, He is a friend and He’s inviting you to His table where your heart will be set on Him alone and you can experience a life of purpose in His love.

If you want to say yes to JESUS to come in your life and take control of your life you can say this prayer:

“Lord JESUS, I am sorry for my sins, I repent of all my wrong ways, today I believe in You, I believe you died for me and rose from the dead. Today, I accept you as my personal Saviour, cleanse me and lead me. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!”

You belong!

God Bless You Abundantly friends!
