SHATTERED

Nathan DK

Broken in some ways,
ways in which we fail to comprehend.
Little by little we find ourselves in
moments where the hurt seems
louder than hope and pain
seems stronger than faith.

Moments where we lose the grip and slide
off the rock and gravity pulling us to the ground.
Sometimes it feels as if hope isn’t in our reach,
happiness isn’t a reality we hope to have someday.

Peace becomes a void reality in the distance
and hurt becomes a reality we accept to live with
as our new roommate.

We slowly open the door to what seems desirable
in our search of peace and wholeness.
We let insecurities creep in and we dine with fear,
we slowly dance to the rhythm of deception and
emptiness becomes our daily distress,
slowly growing and filling up the room.

We turn to what feels desirable as a mean of a remedy
to our condition that craves for our peace and stability.
Blindly, we step into a foreign territory that seems
to be the answer we’ve been looking for.
Innocently, we give our pieces in return of a temporary relief,
and we create more holes within ourselves that need to be filled.
